Nursery plans under way

We've decided on colors/theme for Brady's room. We're going to paint the bottom half of the room a dark blue and the top half a creamy white. We're going to put up a deep red chair rail and get matching red curtains. We bought a matching red area rug for the floor this week. We're waiting for the paint to go on sale at Sears and the weather to warm up a little before we get that started.

We're going to decorate the room with Curious George stuff. So far we haven't found a whole lot of Curious George merchandise, but a new Curious George movie comes out in Feb. so we're hoping to find some then.

Tomorrow is Jeremiah's birthday. We both have to work, so we're going to wait to celebrate until Saturday.

Other than that nothing really exciting is going on around here. We are both keeping busy with work and trying to get some sleep now becuase we know we won't get much when Brady arrives!

100% BOY!!!!!!

It's official! We're having a boy!!!!! Brady wasn't a bit shy about showing us he's 100% boy! In fact I think he's going to be one of those kids who runs out into a crowded room without his diaper on!!! Right before the sonogram we had a pep talk in the waiting area and we told him this was our one shot at finding out what he was so he better spread 'em and let us know...and he sure did!

The tech said he looked just the right size and his heart rate was perfect at 150 bpm. She laughed at how squirmy he was. He wouldn't sit still and he kept kicking where the monitor was and putting his hands in front of his face when she tried to get a face shot.

Now we have to repaint the nursery and get new lampshades for the lamps...we tried to paint the room a nice beige/peach color and it came out pink and the lamps I have in there have pink shades so we're going to have to switch! We were going to decorate the room in Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, but now we're not sure. We're going to look around a little and see what we like for a while before we decide.

Brady or Mackenzie - who knows!!!

Squirt is just the right size for 23 weeks according to Dr. Bavishi. At our doctor's appointment Wednesday Squirt's heartbeat was about 145 which is right in the middle of the acceptable heart rate zone. They didn't do a sonogram that day, but scheduled one for tomorrow - Monday, Jan. 23. Hopefully Squirt will cooperate and we'll finally be able to tell if we're going to have a Brady Michael or a Mackenzie Elizabeth. As soon as we find out we will let everyone know!

Handy recycling tip

We get the paper delivered every day and it always comes in these plastic bags. Instead of throwing the bags away we started saving them to dump really stinky diapers in for quick disposal. (Even diaper genies start to stink after a while, so getting rid of the really bad ones when they happen is a good idea!) They're good to keep in the baby's room and in the car for emergency stinks.

Heather found another use for them this week when she went through two boxes of Kleenex blowing her nose...the bags are good for stuffing dirty, germy tissues in. She kept the bag next to her on the floor and stuffed the dirty tissues in there after blowing her nose instead of having to get up and throw them away ever two minutes or leave them laying around until she got up! Plus, having them in the bag kept the curious cats and dogs away from the germs!

They also make a good trash bag to keep in the car glove box for random car trash.

Squirt's new favorite dessert

Squirt has a new favorite dessert that Heather made Saturday.
It only takes a few minutes to make and it's a really, really yummy snack.

Here's what you need:
One can of Pillsbury Crescent Rolls.
One tub of Philadelphia Cream Cheese - softened.
One can of cherry pie filling.
One tub of vanilla frosting - melted.

Here's what you do:
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
*Unroll the crescent rolls into four rectangles (they come out of the can that way if you're careful) , then line them up side by side and pinch the edges together so you have a long flat surface.
*Spread four tablespoons of cream cheese over the crescent surface...leave about a 1/4 cm edge.
*Spread a 1/2 cup of cherry pie filling on top of the cream cheese.
*Turn the edges of the crescents up just a little so nothing runs over.
*Bake for 10-12 minutes.
*Let cool for 5 minutes then spoon vanilla frosting over the top in a swirly pattern.

YUMMY yummy YUMMY yummy YUMMY

Jeremiah took some of this to work and it passed the police officer taste test! They gobbled it up.

Slow week in KC

Well, this week was pretty uneventful. Heather was sick all week with a cold virus that kept her and Squirt up all night coughing. She went to the doctor Thursday and got some cough medicine with Codine to help them sleep, but it was only good for about one hour of sleep and then they were wide awake again. She's feeling better each day though and sleeping better too!

Heather and Jeremiah go to the doctor this coming Wednesday for a normal OB appointment. Hopefully the doctor will schedule an ultrasound for that morning, but it may be scheduled for later in the week. Whenever it is, if Squirt is cooperating we should be able to find out whether we're having a boy or a girl.

Squirt's friend is a girl!!

Heather's friend Laurie was able to convince her doctor to let her have another sonogram to find out the sex of the baby since the one around 20 weeks didn't really reveal anything definate. This time they could tell for sure that Willie Moe is actually a GIRL!

Hopefully we will find out what SQUIRT really is sometime this month. We've got a regular OB appointment on the 18th and the doctor will schedule a sonogram for sometime soon after!

Happy birthday aunt Jenn!

Today is Heather's sister Jenn's birthday!

Jeremiah, Heather and Squirt are going out to dinner to celebrate with Jenn, her husband, Mike, and two kids - Ryan and Logan - and Heather and Jenn's parents, Don and Joyce.

Heather is going to resist the urge to dress up like Elvis since today is his birthday too!!

Squirt and Mom head back to work.

Heather went back to work Wednesday, Jan. 4, after a much enjoyed 7 weeks off! Everyone was glad to have her back and she was so-so happy to be back! She had grown fond of her mid-morning and late afternoon naps and neverending free time. At least it's good exercise to walk around the store. Her boss said she'll get promoted again this year - most likely when she returns from maternity leave this summer - but possibly sooner! (Heather hopes sooner so she can afford some daycare for Squirt!!!!)

Jeremiah was glad to have Heather and Squirt return to work so he could get some good sleep during the day! When Heather was home she made too much noise and let the dogs in and out too many times and Jeremiah kept waking up to all the noise. Jeremiah swears that Heather slams the microwave door closed, though Heather insists there is no quieter way to close it than the way she is doing it!!!

Squirt takes first road trip

Jeremiah, Heather and Squirt (along with Holly and Amber) visited Brian and Aubrey in Topeka on Jan. 2. Jeremiah and Brian each got a new hunting gun for Christmas so they took them out and shot them at clay disks all day while Heather and Aubrey stayed back at the house and kept an eye on the dog farm. Brian and Aubrey have two big dogs like Holly and Amber...four 50 pound dogs chasing each other in one yard makes for a lot of entertainment!

We all went to dinner at a bar and grill in downtown Topeka where Jeremiah and Brian filled up on some kind of cheesy/creamcorn mixture breaded like a Hush Puppy. Heather and Squirt weren't impressed with the taste.

Afterwards the boys wrestled with the dogs to work off the appetizer.
In the picture, Jeremiah is on the floor on the left with Amber, Ginger is the yellow dog in the middle, Casey is the dog over Brian's right shoulder and Holly's the one with her butt to the camera!
