Fun with socks

Brady loves to put on our socks. On this day he found a pair of my cow socks and wouldn't leave my side until I put them on him! He wouldn't let me take them off either. I finally had to after a while because we had to leave the house.

Here I am at I think 8 weeks. They say you show a lot earlier with the second one ... I guess so! We don't really know when I started "showing" with Brady though because I had Betty the Blob in there. I will be 10 weeks Monday. I had my second prenatal appointment this week. Dr. Bavishi said everything looks great so far, but I lost a few pounds so I need to make sure I'm eating lots of protein. When I was pregnant with Brady I gained two pounds the first month and then lost them the next month. The month after that I gained 10 pounds. It was all uphill from there! Well, I finally put some of our vacation pictures on here, so enjoy them and we'll keep you updated on what's new with the new baby. The "brister" as Jeremiah's calls him/her...short for brother/sister.

Omaha vacation

Brady's Greatgrandma and Greatgrandpa Shirley and Gerald came to visit us for a couple weeks in June. I was off most of the time because I had just had my gall bladder out. While they were here we took a two day trip up to Omaha, Nebraska. It's just a 2.5 hour drive from KC so it's not too bad.
Jeremiah and his grandpa got to ride in an airplane simulator at the Strategic Air and Space Museum just west of Omaha. They went up and down and rolled over and did flips. I would have puked.

Jeremiah in some kind of plane.
We got to see one of the types of airplanes that Gerald worked on when he was in the service. He showed us all the different compartments where people could fit and where they kept the bombs.

Across the highway from the Museum there is a drive through wildlife safari. It was pretty hot the day we went, but we were still able to see some cool animals.

It would be pretty miserable to be a big black bear on a sunny hot day!

Dirty bison.
This one hasn't figured out it's cooler in the water.

While we were in Omaha we went to the Henry Doorley Zoo. It is really awesome. They have some really great natural habitat-like exhibits. We plan to go back next summer, or mid-fall 2008 when it's cooler. They're going to open up a new butterfly exhibit next year. This was my favorite of this year: the two-toed sloth! I love it!

Gorillas hangin out in the shade. It was hot that day.

Brady: "Ooooo. I want to pet this goat."

Goat: "Ooooo. I want to eat this stroller."

Ok, Melea didn't go to Omaha with us, this is a picture from the week before when she came over for a visit! She's getting really big. She's almost able to sit by herself like her big cousin Brady!

We found a local brewery restaurant in Omaha where they had a giant sample platter of their many different beers. I drove back to the hotel.

We woke to find Brady sleeping comfortably in his portacrib with his feet sticking out the ends. He didn't seem to mind.

Cool monkey hanging out in the tree.

Two monkeys with a baby in their laps. It's kind of hard to see the baby.

Lucky me...

Ok, so I should probably have stopped on my way home from work to grab a powerball ticket, because I've been on a pretty lucky streak lately. On Friday the 13th I was on my way home from work and preparing to look online with Jeremiah when I got home at the Royal's website. We were going to buy tickets to the Royals/Yankees game for this coming Thursday. Well, while I was driving I heard them say "Call now to win." So, naturally I did. And I won. What did I win? Two tickets to that baseball game!!! Then today I dropped Brady off at mom and dad's and on my way I'm flipping channels and I hear another station say "Call now to win." So, again, I did. And again I won. This time two concert tickets to see the band Snow Patrol. They sing the song called "Chasing Cars." It has nothing to do with cars quite frankly...it's the one that goes something like, "If I lay here, if I just lay here...would lie with me and just forget the world." Something like that. So that's kind of exciting. Now we have to find a babysitter. :) Mom and dad are watching Brady for the ball game.

So while I've been having all this luck Jeremiah's been not so lucky. He got back from the flood place last week and then had a few days off. Then instead of going back to work he had training all this week at UMKC. The first two days they did a lot of wrestling. Yesterday they had to get sprayed in the face with the OC spray. Then this morning in the shower it reactivated so that was fun for him. Then today he had more ground fighting training. So then he got home tonight and was trying to relax and planning to go to bed early because he goes back to patrols tomorrow morning and he gets a call saying he's supposed to work the movie theater security tonight. So I had to leave work early so he could get there. What a mess. Anyway, hopefully he'll get some rest tomorrow night!

What's new

Well, I meant to update the site the other day when I had a day off, but then I opted for a long nap instead. I have to work all weekend so it may be Tuesday before I have a chance to get some pictures on here...I have pictures from a month ago on my camera from when we went to the Omaha Zoo. There's also some funny pictures of Brady wearing my socks. He likes to wear our socks. They pretty much look like legwarmers on him!

Speaking of Brady, he's doing great. He got another tooth on the bottom, putting his total tooth count up to seven. He has four on the top and one more on the bottom trying to come up. He's been drooling like a leaky faucet for weeks now. Poor guy. Other than that he's terrific. He loves to eat tomatoes and cucumbers. We're growing tomatoes in the yard, but they're not ripe yet. We have about a billion cucumbers though, so that's good that he likes them. I do not, Jeremiah does. We're growing peppers too. They're starting to get big. Brady's gone back to sleeping through the night most nights. For a couple months he woke up once or twice a night screaming. We figured it was easier to go in and put his pacifier back in then lay there and listen to him scream for hours so that's what we did. Now he seems to keep it in all night. He's been sleeping in lately until 10 or 11 a.m. when we are able to let him! I love it because that means I can sleep in - even though I haven't been sleeping well at all I can at least lay in bed for longer times. I have been sleeping horribly. Last night was the best night's sleep in a week...I only woke up four times. The previous few nights I seriously woke up every 45 minutes from 10:30 p.m. to 7 a.m. It was awful. By the time I got to work I was already exhausted and by the time I got home it was even worse. Then I would feel so tired and would lay down and not be able to sleep. Ugh. Me and insomnia do not do well together. Hopefully last night is a sign of improvement. I know things get a lot easier in the second trimester and I'm only a few weeks away from there so that's something to look forward to.

I go back to the doctor this week for a checkup. So far I don't think I've really gained any weight. I've still been having spouts of morning sickness so food isn't always my friend and I end up just snacking here and there. I'm definately showing a little bit already. And I've already had one of the old ladies at work pet my belly. Thursday she looks at me and says, "oh, look, you're starting to show already." Before I know it she's attacking me and petting me. I was thinking, oh, no, 7 more months of this. I don't really like it when people randomly pet me.

I need to get going. Brady's off to grandma and grandpa's house today. My boss has made a rule that all managers must work every Saturday which means mom and dad get brady. Jenn and Mike get him tomorrow because it's my Sunday to work. Poor kid doesn't know if he's coming or going! At least Jeremiah's still on day shift for a few more weeks so he can pick Brady up in the evening and get to spend a little bit of time with him before bed. My next day off is Tuesday so if we're not busy running all around creation I'll try to get some pictures on here.

Brady and me

Well, it's just Brady and me for a week or so. Jeremiah left Thursday to head down to Coffeeville, Kansas, somewhere in the southeast section of the state. They had really bad flooding down there and a big oil spill or leak or something that got all in the water. I guess the town is in pretty bad shape and the people already were before the flooding - it's a pretty big drug town...a bunch of meth-heads. So he and another guy from his department went down there to help with security and other stuff with a group of officers from the county up here. He's been staying pretty busy - working different shifts which is hard to get used to. The first couple nights they worked midnights, then they switched them to days. Jeremiah was sick yesterday, probably from the air quality and change in sleep patterns. I talked to him this morning though and he said he was feeling much better after a good nights sleep. He thinks he'll be coming home either Thursday or Friday this week.

So Brady and I are on our own. Of course this week is insane at work. I was supposed to be off last Friday which was going to be good because I was going to get some stuff done around the house and spend the day with Brady. Instead I got told Wednesday afternoon that I had to go to Columbia, MO, for a meeting for work. Yipee. It was stupid. We spent two hours driving there, two hours walking the Sears store there and going over one process, and then two hours driving back. I was having some morning sickness so it was not really fun for me. I would have much rather been home with Brady, napping when he did. I had to work yesterday too, which was not fun because my new store manager has this stupid idea that every manager has to work every Saturday and we have to spend the entire day walking around the salesfloor. I was exhausted an hour after I got there. Today is my "day off" although I have to go to work at 7 p.m. tonight because my before-mentioned evil ruler has decided it would be fun to have a fundraiser where all the associates can donate $10 and get to throw pies in our faces. He didn't even ask us if we were up for it, he just told us we had to be there. Hopefully no one will pick me. I think it's stupid. I'd like to throw a pie in his face, but I don't want to pay $10 to do it.

So basically Friday was my day off and I worked all day. Today is supposed to be my day off and I again have to go up there. Tuesday is my next day off. I'm hoping I actually get the whole day off. I hate Sears. I like my job and I would be more than happy to do my job from Monday to Friday from 9 to 5, or even 8 to 5, but you can't do that at there. It's stupid. No wonder there's such high turnover. My life is not work. My evil ruler thinks it should be though.

Other than that things seem to be going well with the baby. So far so good. I don't go back to the doctor for three more weeks. I've been trying to drink tons of water and have been doing pretty good at it. Yesterday I didn't have as much as I should because I was wandering around the store all day and went to bed when I got home after picking Brady up at mom and dad's. Brady took a nap over there when I got there so Mom and I watched Monsters, Inc. on tv. Last night I slept horribly. I woke up 7 times I think. Three times I woke up with severe kidney pain on my right side. I thought I was going to die. It's what happens when I don't drink enough before bed. Luckily the pain finally subsided around 3 this morning so when I woke up at 4:30 and 5:30 it was just to go to the bathroom. At 6:15 I had to get up to let the dogs outside. At 7 I woke up because the cat wouldn't stop meowing at my door. Finally I gave up and got out of bed at 8:30. Brady's still asleep now which is nice because I can sit and update the site and eat some cereal and drink some apple juice. Once he gets up I'm going to have a lot of chasing to do! His favorite things are stealing the remote or the cordless phone and running away from me giggling all the way! He's talking more. Now he can say mama, dada, ball, dog, tree, kitty, ja - for jake, more, and when he wants to ba ba for bye bye.

Well, my milk is expired so I had to eat my Frosted Flakes dry this morning and it's not really doing the trick on filling me up so I'm off to the kitchen to search for more rations.

Due date

I went to the doctor last Friday, but I've been working like a maniac since so I haven't had five minutes to update the site. The official due date is February 25, which is a Monday. Dr. Bavishi said I would be having another C-section though and she schedules surgeries for Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'm guessing he/she will be born either Feb 26 or 28 unless he/she comes early. Feb. 28 is Brady's cousin Ryan's birthday. Everything seems to be right on schedule. Today I am 6 weeks. So far I've had a little bit of morning sickness and I've been really tired. I haven't had a lot of time to take naps, and I haven't been sleeping well at night so I'm pretty much a walking, talking, crab.

Brady's having a temper tantrum now so I'm going to see what that's about.
