Well, I can see it now...Jeremiah is out of town on business and when he comes home Saturday all heck is going to break loose. Our LCD tv in the living room has quit working. It's a Dell and when I looked up troubleshooting online there were like 400 people with the exact same problem and no resolution. Apparently they work for like two years and then just quit. We got ours for Christmas in 2005 so it's right on schedule. I guess we will just have to move the tv from the dining room into the living room. Jeremiah is going to freak! His tv is like a feeding tube for him. He can't live without it! Perhaps if Brady were potty trained we could put the diaper money toward a new one ... hey that's not a bad idea...maybe I can get Jeremiah motivated to get Brady trained by telling him we can get a new TV once he is!!! Not really. Our personal property tax is due and then the holidays are coming and then we are going to Florida. Plus, I'm sure my 401K has lost nearly all of its value so the last thing we need to do is go out and get more into debt. We will survive. Well, at least the kids and I will!!!
A couple quick updates then I have to get to bed. I didn't get home until 10 last night with the kids after work (thank goodness the babysitter let them stay until I got off work so I didn't have to drag them up to the store with me all night). When we got home Mackenzie had pooped out her diaper and down her leg...nasty! So she got a bath and put to bed then Brady had to go down so it was nearly midnight before I got settled and then I had to get up at 5 to do it all over again. Back at work at 6:30 a.m. until 4:30 then I ran to Walmart to get some material to make Mackenzie's halloween costume then picked up the kids, hit the McDonalds drive through came home, played for a few minutes, then wrangled them to bed and now here I am and it's 10:00 already! Oh, yeah, Mackenzie pooped out of her diaper again tonight! I think we need to get some size 4's next time. The 3's aren't holding. So anyway, Jeremiah comes home Saturday from training which will be nice. I have to work all weekend so mom and dad are coming over Saturday till J gets home. Tuesday I am off work, but I am going to UMKC in the morning to talk about what it would take to get my certificate to teach middle school math. Or maybe high school, though I think middle school would be better. I am off next weekend...Halloween weekend. It will be my last weekend off until January so I plan on enjoying it! Our friend is having a birthday party for their little girl who is 6 months younger than Brady so that will be fun. We don't get to see them too often because they live like an hour away.
Other than that I can't really think of much. Everything this week has been a blur. I did not sign up for single motherhood. I'll be glad when J gets back...even though he'll be gone again in a couple weeks - the worst week possible, right before Christmas. It's going to be the busiest week at work for me with 11 p.m. closings and he's going to be out of town. I have no idea what I am going to do. I guess we'll cross that bridge when it gets here.
Well, I'm off to bed. I have to be back at work at 7:30 a.m.

Quick update...
Stacey called today and said that Owen gets to come home tomorrow! Wow! We thought it would be at least Monday. He's doing well. He will have to wear a heart monitor for a while, maybe even a couple months. It just depends on how he is doing. Stacey is staying in the hospital tonight so she can nurse Owen and make the transition to taking care of him full time! She said it has been really hard going back and forth, but now that she is getting ready to leave for good she has realized how nice it is to have all those nurses and doctors around all the time!
Hopefully I'll get to meet the little guy soon and take some pictures.

Migranes stink
Ugh. I woke up today with a terrible migrane. I have no idea what caused it, but I'm glad it is mostly gone now. I thought I was going to be sick all morning. Luckily Jeremiah didn't have to be to work until 2:30 so he got up to take care of the kids so I could go back to bed. I had gotten up around 9:30 and fed Mackenzie and took some Ibuprofen and took a shower thinking it would help, but it didn't so around 10:30 I laid back down. I didn't feel tired, but I must have fallen asleep pretty easily because the next thing I knew it was 1:37 p.m. and Jeremiah was waking me to tell me he had to start getting ready for work. My head felt 90% better then and improved a little all night. I was supposed to work today and be off tomorrow, but I guess I'll go in tomorrow instead. I have to make a trip to Stacey's house to drop off a bunch of the boy clothes and toys and baby stuff for when Owen comes home.
He is gaining weight and doing well for a premie. He is still in the NICU and will be there for about another week at least. I guess it is pretty common for premies to have their heart rates drop all of a sudden. Some can rouse themselves out of it on their own and others need to be stimulated by having their backs tickled or something to get them going. As long as they can do it on their own they are good to go. If they need help they have to stay longer. Owen has been able to get himself going, but a couple times he has needed help so he's got to stay for a while longer.
It's been pretty crazy for Stacey and Jeff. Stacey said today she's put about 1,000 miles on her car in the past two weeks driving back and forth from the hospital a couple times a day. She has been nursing Owen at 9 a.m., noon and 3 p.m. Sometimes at 6 p.m. too. Jeff has been going up to see Owen after he gets off work. He's planning on taking some time off when Owen finally gets to come home. Hopefully he will get to come home soon so Stacey can have a few weeks with him before having to go back to work.
Speaking of work...
I still hate my job. Let me rephrase that: I hate the hours my job requires. I like my job and if it were a daytime Monday through Friday job I would love it! Unfortunately that will never happen. I've been looking for other jobs, but with the economy the way it is this is not really the time to be looking. I did find; however, that the Kansas City Kansas School District has an alternative certification program for teachers. I'm going to apply even though it says that people with communications degrees aren't really what they are looking for. It's worth a shot. What I would really like to do is go back to school and take classes to become certified to teach either middle school or high school math. Math teachers are in really high demand. I enjoyed math in school...I like problem solving. My brain just works well that way. All I need now is someone to pay for it for me! Ha ha! I'm going to send a copy of my transcripts to the University of Missouri - Kansas City. They have a program where you can tell them what you want to do and they will tell you how many classes you would have to do to make it happen. They look at the classes you already have completed and compare it to their curriculum.
When I started college in 1997 I was an education major. In my second semester I changed because I wasn't sure if that's what I wanted to do. During my second and third and fourth years I regretted changing, but of course it was too late to change majors (and have mom and dad pay for it!) so I kept on with journalism. Dad always told us, "I pay for the first four years. If you can't do it in that time the rest is up to you." In 2003 I enrolled in classes for the fall 2003 semester again at SEMO to get my education degree, but then I moved to Kansas City, racked up a bunch of credit card bills while Jeremiah was doing an unpaid internship all summer, racked up even more for our wedding and honeymoon, bought a house, some dogs, some cars, had two kids and here I am with no way to pay for school now. Shoot, we are still paying Jeremiah's student loans back and will be for probably the next 20 years! Oh well.
We'll see what UMKC has to say about my transcripts and see how many millions of dollars it would cost to make it happen and see what kind of loans are out there...and if it would even be possible to take classes with my current crazy schedule.
Hind sight is 20 20 you know. People are always saying "Oh, I don't have any regrets." Well, good for them. If I could go back 10 years and talk to myself I would say, "Stick with education you ding dong." Oh well. My sister Jenn started college as journalism and ended up in education and I started as education and ended up in journalism. Now she is an elementary school counselor and I am a stinking Operations Manager at Sears. It's not exactly what I had in mind.
It's late now and I should have been in bed an hour and a half ago but since I slept so long today I'm totally not tired. I need to at least go lay in bed since I am going to get up early and go in to work tomorrow. I have a bunch of really fun pictures from vacation I need to get uploaded sometime soon. I'll try to do it in the next couple of days but it takes so long I have to find some time when the kids are napping or in bed for the night. I'll try to get them on by the end of the weekend.

Quick Updates...
Well, I tried to put some photos on here, but they aren't uploading for some reason. I'll have to try again later. A lot has happened since I last updated the site. First, Stacey had her baby! She wasn't due until mid-November, but on September 28 Owen decided he had been in there long enough. He was born at 9:45 p.m. and was 16 inches long .. he weighed 4 pounds 10 ounces. I still haven't been able to see him because he is in the NICU. He will have to be there for a couple weeks. He had been losing weight, but yesterday he gained a little bit so that's a good change. He got his IV out the other day and has been doing really well. When he was born his lungs weren't fully developed, but he has not needed any breathing tubes. He still has a little feeding tube, but he's eating more and more milk and formula each day so hopefully it won't be too long till he gets that out. Stacey is doing good too. She keeps busy driving back and forth to the hospital. She got released after two days and has been having to drive back and forth to the hospital a couple times a day. Since Owen is in the NICU they can't have Melea in there a lot so Stacey and Jeff are trying to find a good routine to get to spend enough time with each kiddo.
In other news, we are on vacation ow. We finally made it to New Jersey and are spending the day doing nothing! We left Thursday morning around 7 a.m. and flew to Baltimore. From there Memaw Robin picked us up and we drove to Washington D.C. We checked out the monuments and drove past a bunch of landmarks then went to the DEA Museum. We went back to Baltimore to spend the night at Robin's friend Sharon's house. Sharon has a son Jeremiah's age. They grew up together and haven't seen each other in about 6 years so it was fun for them to catch up. Friday morning we got back in the van and headed back to D.C. where we went to the zoo. It was cool. They have panda bears! Brady loved the pandas and elephants (or as he calls them, elphalents). We left the zoo and traveled to Jeremiah's aunt and uncle's house around Baltimore. Uncle Gerry and Aunt Irene fixed crab cakes (Jeremiah was in heaven) and ribs and a bunch of yummy sides for dinner. Mackenzie got to hang out with another baby who was just a couple weeks older than her. We spent the night there....Brady slept in a camper with Memaw. He liked camping out! Saturday morning everyone caravanned up to Ocean City, Maryland to spend the day and night. We walked on the boardwalk at the beach and stuck our toes in the ocean! Brady loved it! He had a ton of fun playing in the sand and water. He got drenched and we had to end up taking his pants off and let him run around in is diaper and t-shirt. It was a little chilly so we didn't get to stay out long after that. We went back to the hotel for naps. Sunday morning we got up and went to the condo where Gerry and Irene were staying and watched Nascar and football and went to the beach again to look for seashells. In the late afternoon we said goodbye to Gerry and Irene and headed north to New Jersey. We took the Cape May ferry from Delaware to New Jersey. It was kind of choppy so I was glad to be off, but it was fun. It was like a miniature cruise for an hour! We got to Memaws house around 9:30 last night.
So we're relaxing today and don't have a lot of big plans for the week. We want to go to the beach here one day and are definately going to take the train up to New York City at least once. We have to eat in Little Italy. I've been craving it for two years now!!!
Well, hopefully the site will work later so I can upload some photos. I'm going to try to go see what everyone is up to.
