Let's Go METS!

Today Brady and I watched the Mets versus Marlins opening day baseball game. Brady sat in Jeremiah's recliner for like 30 minutes and watched the game while I fed Mackenzie. Every time the Mets would throw a pitch and the catcher would get it Brady would say, "He caught it!" It was funny. He wore his Mets shirt today in honor of the game! Mine does not currently fit. When we were eating dinner we had on the Angels game and Jeremiah and I were talking about how the Yankees game had gotten postponed due to rain. All of a sudden Brady started saying "Let's go Mets" and pumping his fist in the air. Jeremiah tried for 10 minutes to get him to say lets go Yankees but he wouldn't do it! Ha ha ha! Then I grabbed the camera and took this video. It was so funny. After this was done Jeremiah was pouting about how it wasn't fair that I taught Brady to be a Mets fan. I told him I just started earlier than he did and if he wants Mackenzie to be a Yankees fan he better start prepping her now because I'm already working on her too! Ha ha.

I told Brady that we are allowed to root for the Yankees during the year whenever they are not playing the Mets because we want them to make it to the World Series so they can play the Mets and lose!!! LET'S GO METS! By the way - they won today and my secret boyfriend David Wright hit a home run!

Oh the potty

Well, we bought Brady a potty last night. Lately when he's been pooping and his face is all red and he's making obscene noises he has been saying, "Poop." So we figured since he has that figured out it's a good time to maybe start introducing the potty. The first time he sat on it he flipped out and wanted right off. A few minutes later he was ready to give it another try so we made it part of his bedtime routine. Now we go in, get undressed and sit on the potty for 10 or 15 minutes, then put a diaper back on and climb up on the step ladder to wash his face and hands and brush his teeth. Then it's time to go pick out pjs. We let him decided which ones he wants to wear. Then we put those on, get his pacifier and go find Sissy to give her a hug and a kiss. After that we go in and he stands in his crib while we read a bedtime story. Then we turn on his music CD, turn of the lights and snuggle. Snuggling consists of holding him and giving him a hug and kiss. We usually also have to go find Sissy again because he always wants to give her one more kiss. After that it's back in his crib where we ask him if he wants to sit or lay. He always says sit and scoots back into the corner of the crib. We pile his Mr. Monkey's around him (he now has three brown and one blue one), give him Mr. Bunny who is a beanie like Mr. Monkey, but it's a bunny, and then tell him to lean forward so we can wrap his blanket around him. Then we say "I love you" and he says, "Wuv you" back and then we say goodnight and he starts crying and we tell him we'll check on him before we go night-night and we leave. He screams for a minute or two then falls asleep...or lays in there and plays. Tonight he's playing. He screamed for about 5 minutes that he wanted Daddy, but he's at the movie theater doing off-duty security so he won't be home until later. I put him in there around 9:20 p.m. At like 10:10 I heard him talking. It's 10:30 and I think he's still playing now. Oh well, he's not screaming so more power to him.

Like Jeremiah said though - he's totally not ready for the toddler bed yet. We got it from Jenn last weekend, but we're not even going to think about that until this fall. Have I mentioned yet that my middle sister Stacey is pregnant again? She's due in November. That's why we might switch Brady out of the crib...if she needs it for the new baby we'll switch him over. She doesn't know yet if she's going to buy a new one or not. She's hoping for a girl, but we won't be able to find out until June or July what it really is.

Like I said, Jeremiah's working at the theater tonight. Tomorrow we have Melea's birthday party at 2 o'clock. That should be fun. It's always a good time when we get all the kids together. Then Sunday we're going to that daycare lady's house. Like I said she seems nice. It was her idea for us to come Sunday afternoon rather than Saturday sometime because she said that two of her grandkids would be there so we could meet them too. Jeremiah looked online at some of the real estate websites and houses in her neighborhood are selling for about $160,000 so that at least means they're not a bunch of shacks!

Uh-oh, Mackenzie is getting hungry. It's time for her last eat before bed. I better take care of that. Then I get to sit down and watch Dateline that I taped earlier. I love when Jeremiah works late because I get to watch all my favorite shows.

Oh, and I hear someone in the other room calling, "DADDY!" He's so funny.

Keep your fingers crossed

Seriously keep your fingers crossed!! Sunday afternoon we are going to meet with a woman who lives like 3 miles from my work who does daycare in her home. Right now she's just watching her grandkids. Besides being close to the store, she only wants to charge $30 a day for both of the kids! Wow! I about fell out of the chair. I said, "$30 each right" and she said, "No way, are you crazy? I'm from Kansas, hun!" Then we talked about how people are nuts and charge an arm and a leg for daycare. She seems pretty nice on the phone. She has five grandkids, four boys and one girl. She was excited to hear that we have a girl. She said they have one dog, a lab mix that is friendly. I told her we have a whole zoo of dogs so pets aren't really a problem for us!

So we'll see. Hopefully she'll work out because that would be great! It would be way more affordable, plus she doesn't have a ton of kids to watch. We like our current babysitter because she's really nice and she's got a good house and yard and whatnot, but she is going to have four toddlers and three infants if we take the kids there and that is just way too many for one person to watch at a time. Plus it's out of the way.

Well, Mackenzie's waking up and Brady just took off with the mouse for the computer so I have to go fix those problems!!!!!!! Ha ha.

Swingin' and Tubbin'

Mackenzie tried out the swing for the first time yesterday. She really liked it. Today she sat in there while I did the dishes. I think she liked the change of scenery. I put it in the kitchen since the living room is pretty much full of toys and furniture so she got to look at some new things. Most of the time she's in the living room.

Brady got to stand on the step ladder and help with Mackenzie's bath last night. Here he is washing her foot.

Until now we had been washing her in the sink, but she's one slippery little baby when she's wet. We had this little white tub for Brady when he was little, but we had a styrofoam mat that went inside to keep him upright. We got rid of that a long time ago because it pretty much fell apart. Memaw Robin sent Mackenzie this blue bath cushion thing which is way cooler than the styrofoam thing. It kind of feels like a thick patio furniture cushion. It's really nice you just put it in the tub, fill it up with water and wash away! She didn't slip around at all!

I forgot yesterday to put on a picture of the curtains I put up in Mackenzie's room. Today I added tie-backs because they were really tough to pull open and closed. I tied the two curtains on each window together with a purple ribbon and then screwed some hooks next to each window and added purple ribbon to use for the tie-backs. I think it turned out pretty nice...and it's super easy to open and close them now, I just untie the ribbon and they close themselves!

Brady was playing with "Super Monkey" today. He wanted Super to play with his little people with him so he sat him up on one side and he played on the other! It's so funny to see him carry Super around because they're just about the same size!
Well, I officially go back to work at 6:30 a.m. on April 21. Ugh. The schedule came out today and my friend Laura who's filling in for me called me. I told her I was not looking forward to coming back! Daycare is going to be a nightmare and with the cost of gas I don't know what we're going to do. Our current babysitter is about 20 miles out of the way for work, but I called around today to some places near my work and they either didn't have openings or they were really expensive. One place (of the 19 I called) wanted $190 a week for Mackenzie and $110 a week for Brady. All the places wanted more for Mackenzie which I totally don't understand. I mean seriously, let's think about this: Brady would be fed food that they provide. He would need to be played with. Mackenzie would eat milk that I would have to provide and wear diapers that I would have to provide and all they would have to do is feed her and hold her. How does that require $80 more a week? I don't get it. Infants are way easier to watch than 2-year-olds.
Well, yesterday I went on my first official outing with just me and the kids. We went to the gas station to put air in my tires, then to Fantastic Sams to get Brady's hair cut, then over to Merriam to see Jeremiah at work! It's kind of tricky getting the kids in and out of the car. Usually I put Brady in first because I can set Mackenzie on the ground next to me while I do that so I can fuss with Brady. Then I get her out first because of the same reason. It wasn't bad. We actually went to Walmart the day before which I just remembered and that was crazy becuase Mackenzie's seat takes up the whole front seat part of the cart so Brady has to sit in back. I picked up a few things we needed and then I got some silk flowers to put in my flowerbed out front around the porch ( I kill real ones ). By the time we got to the checkout Brady had half of the flowers pulled off of the green sticks. It took me a half hour last night putting them back together after he went to bed!
Well, other than that not a lot is going on here. Jeremiah's been working a normal schedule this week. The department is going to put on a series of classes for the citizens in the city to tell them what they do and what not so he's been busy making power point presentations for that.
That's all I can think of. Have a great weekend! (Oh, today's only Wednesday...I forget what day it is. I was thinking it was Friday for a minute!)

Lots of pictures

I finally got Mackenzie's room finished today. I wanted to hang her comforter on the wall, but I had to get some purple ribbon and sew some pieces on the top so I could hang it! And, I finally got some curtains too. Her room is light purple on top, dark purple on bottom and has a white chair rail. Her crib set has a bunch of different nursery rhyme pictures on it.

Brady has Mr. Monkey...Mackenzie has Leapers the frog. He's really cute and happy looking!

We bought this ginormous dresser to put in her closet. We took the doors off long before she was even a thought in our mind when it was our computer room because they kept coming off the track. When we converted the room into a nursery we decided to keep the doors off and put the dresser in there to save space in the room. The only bad thing is that it is a little long and we can't open the one set of drawers on the left side more than 6 inches. I keep things we don't need that often in them like extra sheets and burp cloths.

Brady discovered his shadow tonight as the sun was setting out back. It was shining in the back door and he just kept walking back and forth looking at his shadow. He saw it on the wall once and pointed to it and said, "Buddy!" I said, "Yep, that's you...it's your shadow." Then he kept saying, "haddow."

After dinner Jeremiah was getting his lunch for tomorrow ready and I was cleaning up the plates. When I looked over into the dining room to see why he was so quiet I caught him picking his nose! Soon after this picture he stuck his finger in his mouth and smiled. Yuck.

Aunt Jenn, Uncle Mike and the boys brought over a fresh batch of hand-me-down toys yesterday! I tell you what, we are sure lucky that Brady has two older boy cousins!!! We had to take half of his old toys downstairs to make room for all the new ones!

Mackenzie wore a little pink dress and bunny slippers for Easter. She was really cute!

Feeding Mackenzie her Easter dinner!

Me and the kids. Yes, I still have about 25 pounds to lose!

I have started strapping Mackenzie in the Baby Bjorn while I do chores around the house instead of just leaving her in the bouncy seat all the time. Today she hung out with me while I ironed her new curtains!

My family has a tradition of hiding the Easter baskets and making the kids find them on Easter morning. Brady's found his and then helped Mackenzie find hers. (Really she was sleeping so he just went and found it for her.) Brady was excited to get some Spongebob cups and some plastic eggs with animal crackers and fruit snacks inside. I love how Brady says fruit snacks. He says, "Fuit nacks." It's so cute.

Mackenzie didn't get any candy. She got some Avent bottles and some cute plastic bunnies. Here she's holding the purple one.

Nana Joyce and Papa Don with Mackenzie. Brady calls dad "pawpaw" and mom "Joyce." It's hillarious. He totally calls Robin "Memaw" but mom is just Joyce. He's started calling me Mommy only half the time. The other half he calls me Heather. It's pretty crazy because he can totally pronounce it just right.

Melea played with her favorite bear...it's white with little red hearts all over it. She stood all over the house, but she still won't walk. She's silly. She likes to stand in front of you and pretend she's going to walk to you but then she does a stage dive and you have to catch her!

Aunt Jenn got puked on again! Ha ha. She's like a magnet for baby spit-up. It never fails. And of course, it always misses the burp cloth!

When Brian was over last week he held Mackenzie as she tried on her sunglasses that Connie and Dave got her!

Mackenzie and Leapers...one month old!

We are upgrading our garden this year. Last year we just used pots and stuff and had a little area for cucumbers and raddishes by the deck. This year we're going to put a big garden all the way in the back. Jeremiah built a fence to keep the doggies and other animals out. It's about 16' by 20'.

Brady's favorite movie is "Home on the Range." It's a Disney movie about some cows who have to save their farm. The farm is called "Little Patch of Heaven." He's obsessed with it and watches it two times a day. Of course he usually only gets about 30 to 45 minutes in at a time so really he may watch the whole thing over the course of a day. Anyway, we're going to make a sign to go over the door to the garden that says "Brady and Mackenzie's Little Patch of Heaven."

The view of the garden from the deck. See all that brown grass? Well, that's not really grass...it's hay. We have to buy hay bales and sprinkle it throughout the yard where the dogs have run the grass right out of the ground! You can see their main path that goes from the deck to the area by the garden!

Reminicing

It's horrible that Brady's not even two years old and I already can't remember exactly when he did stuff when he was a baby. Good thing we have the blog so I can look back and jog my memory! I looked back today to see what Brady was doing around one month old. At one month and one week he was 11 pounds. Mackenzie is 10 at one month. Brady was smiling a lot at one month. Mackenzie does every now and then, usually when she's sleeping. Brady was using his swing already. We haven't gotten it out yet, but maybe we will. We couldn't remember when we started using it with Brady and didn't know if she was ready yet. I think she'd do ok. Mackenzie is sleeping a lot better than Brady was at this point. In my blogs I talk about how he spent some nights sleeping in his bouncey chair because he wouldn't sleep in his cradle. He was still waking up a bunch at night and staying awake...like from 4 to 6 a.m. Yuck. I think we did things right with Mackenzie this time by putting her straight into her crib from day one. She's been sleeping through the night pretty consistently for two weeks now. She sometimes wants to stay awake after her 8 or 9 a.m. feeding, but usually she'll go back to sleep for a while. It's funny to look back and see what similarities and what differences there are between them.

We're still waiting for Jeremiah to get home. His new job is kind of crazy with schedules. He was supposed to get off at 4 or 4:30, but some stuff came up so he's still there...it's 8 p.m. He should get off tomorrow now though - except he has court in the morning that he'll still have to go to. I talked to him a little while ago and he still had no idea what time he was going to be done tonight. I guess Brady and I are going to eat dinner without him. At least he loves his job. It makes it not so bad! I can't say the same for mine. So far I still haven't found anything promising in the ways of a new one. I'm still looking, but with the job market the way it is there really isn't a whole lot out there. Something will work out eventually! (I hope!!!!)

Well, I think dinner is about ready so I better check on it. I'm having brocolli stuffed chicken and Brady is having fish sticks. We're having some rice and corn too. Well, I am...I'm sure Brady won't eat that stuff. He'll get some tomatoes and cheese.

One month already

Well, Mackenzie is 1-month old already. Can you believe it? We had her well-baby doctors visit yesterday and everything went great! She weighs 10 pounds, 2 ounces and is 20 and 3/4 inches long! She's definately getting enough to eat now! She didn't have to get any shots yesterday but she will when we go in next month.

Jeremiah's been keeping busy at work. He's had to put in some pretty long days. Yesterday was a 12-hour one. It stinks on those days, but it's nice later in the week when he gets to get off early. He's going to take off early tomorrow and we're going to do something outside since it's going to be nice.

I had my postpartum appointment yesterday and Dr. Bavishi said everything seems like it is back to its original position and size...well, my uterus is back to it's normal size...I still have 30 pounds to get rid of! I've lost 20 already though so I'm getting there. It takes 9 months to put it on and 9 to take it off!

Well, Mackenzie is waking up from a nap and she's hungry so I need to go fix that!

Why am I awake???

Why am I awake at 2:08 a.m.? Well, there are several reasons really.
One: Jeremiah was working an extra patrol shift tonight because of the St. Patty's Day holiday and was supposed to get off work at 1 a.m. and I was waiting up for him. Of course they pulled a drunk over at 20 till 1 so he's still there.
Two: I seem to have insomnia at night. I'm dead all day, and awake all night.
Three: I have been poking around online looking for a new job...haven't found any leads yet.
Four: I'm doing laundry. I put a bunch of clothes in the dryer earlier but forgot to turn it on. Woops. Obviously it didn't dry. That set me back about 45 minutes. I am awake but my brain is sleeping.

I don't know what the deal is. I should go to bed as soon as I get the kids in bed but every night I find myself awake in the middle of the night. It's pretty silly really. Then I wake up 100% crabby in the morning ... Mackenzie seems to want to stay awake after her 9 or 10 a.m. feedings now so I have to get up then. Brady usually wakes up pretty soon after. I think Jeremiah is ready to put me out on the curb in the mornings and sell me off to the highest bidder. I can't help it if I'm a little crabby when I first get up - I'm sleep deprived. I lay in bed at night and try to sleep and don't. I figured tonight I might as well do something while I'm awake rather than laying there doing nothing. I usually simmer down within 1o or 15 minutes of getting out of bed, but don't cross my path in those first few minutes or I might get you. Usually by the time I go to the bathroom, let the dogs outside, take down the doggy gates to the hall and living room, change Mackenzie's diaper and get Brady up and changed I'm good.

Well, I'm going to get back to the job search. Or maybe I'll go lay in bed and stare at the wall.

Visitors

Dave and Connie came for a visit today and Brian and Aubrey stopped by too. Brady had fun playing with everyone - especially Brian. He is obsessed with him. Before Brian even got here we had told him he was coming and he kept saying, "Brian!" Dave and Connie thought Mackenzie was beautiful. She pretty much slept the whole time they were here. I think they were surprised at how big Brady is and how much he can do and say! He certainly talks a lot. He showed them that he really loves the DVD player they got him for his birthday last year...he sat down and watched his "Home on the Range" movie while he ate lunch. Grandpa Dave watched it with him!

Everyone went home and now we're getting ready for our dinner battle. Brady wants to eat dip. We had a veggie tray earlier and he used the carrots like fun dip...he slurped the dip off of them and spit the carrots out. Now he keeps saying he wants to eat dip. We'll see if he eats anything for dinner when it is done in a few minutes.

Mackenzie's nose seems a little clearer this afternoon. It was still pretty stuffy this morning, but it's gotten a lot better since. My back is still feeling only about half better. I went downstairs earlier and the stairs didn't make it feel really good. Oh well.

Well, the stove is beeping so I have to go.

Keeping busy

Brady is so funny. Today after lunch I had to feed Mackenzie so I put up the gate to lock Brady in the living room with us. He was tired since it was getting close to nap time. He spent the whole 30 minutes I was feeding Mackenzie unwrapping crayons. He just sat there on the floor with his bucket of crayons peeling the paper off of them. It was pretty comical.

Searching for a good one to peel.

We use one of his old wipe containers to keep the crayons in. We buy the big box of wipes from Sams and every box comes with a new wipe holder. We figure we can put them to good use rather than just throwing them out.

This is Brady after his nap. He won't go to sleep without making his crib into the monkey house! He has three brown Mr. Monkeys, one baby blue colored Mr. Monkey, one Mr. Bunny and one Super Monkey (that's the big one behind him that's like the same size as him). He loves his monkeys.

Wearing some cute moose pajamas. Our shower curtain has woodsey stuff on it like a brown bear, moose, deer, bass fish, pine tree, etc. Brady likes to stand in the bathroom and name all the animals. He thinks the big green bass fish is a frog though.

Pretty baby. I put a goofy headband on her head today just for fun. I'm not really crazy about them, but I wanted to see what it would look like.

Sleeping peacefully in her blue chair. She still has a stuffy nose, but it seems like it may be getting a little better. At least it's not getting worse. I think she's going through her three-week growth spurt. She has been eating more often today. She's still sleeping really well at night. She sleeps better than I do! She has been going from 10:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. on an average night. I usually wake up once between there and sometimes can't go back to sleep. Last night I woke up around 3:30 a.m. when Jeremiah got home from work and I didn't really ever go back to bed. Surprisingly I wasn't really all that tired either. I took about a 45 minute nap this afternoon while both kids were sleeping...they usually don't like to be asleep at the same time so I took advantage of the situation!

Ok. This is a question for any of my friends with toddlers: Do they eat? Brady is so picky. One day he'll eat something and then the next day he won't touch it. Today he ate toast for breakfast, little crunchies and grapes for lunch, some fruit snacks, and then for dinner sweet potatoes and cereal. I swear we waste more food preparing things for him that he just won't eat. The only thing is sometimes he does eat them. It's very frustrating. He drinks plenty of milk. I read somewhere that toddlers go through this phase where they are really picky, but it's making me a little crazy. I hope he gets over it soon. His little cousin Melea eats anything Stacey and Jeff put in front of her including tamales and chili. Brady would flip out if we tried to have him eat that stuff. Melea also eats veggies. Brady won't touch them. I have to give him "sweet potatoe sauce" which is really baby food sweet potatoes. The only other veggie he eats are those little grape tomatoes. He pretty much eats any fruits. Right now he likes grapes the best. Last week he wanted strawberries every day, but I think he got burned out on them because now he won't eat them anymore. I am just wondering if anyone else is going through this with their toddler.

In other news my back is starting to feel a little better today. I talked to Jeremiah's grandma the other night and she said after she had his mom she had the same problem for like a month. She had a spinal block when she delivered Robin and said they hit a nerve or something. I am really thinking maybe that's what happened to me too because I also had a spinal block this time rather than an epidural. Hopefully it really is getting better. It was really bad yesterday so maybe that was just rock bottom and now I'm on the downhill side. I certainly hope so.

The bug

Well, apparently even though Logan was on antibiotics when he came over Monday he still had some antibiotic resistant cold germs floating around. Mackenzie woke up for her 3:30 feeding this morning with a runny nose and it's just gotten more congested since then. When she got up at 10 her upper lip was caked with crusty snot. Yuck. Brady woke up today with a little occassional cough and a really rotten attitude. He's been grumpy all morning and really fussy. I think he's not feeling all that great. My nose is a little stuffed up today, but not too bad. I'm going to start popping vitamin C pills and drinking tons of water. Jeremiah comes home today. Hopefully he won't get sick.

Otherwise my back is still killing me. I think they must have pushed my hip out of place or something when they were trying to push Mackenzie out during my c-section. My lower left back has been really hurting since I came home and it's just not getting any better. I walk all stupid because when I put pressure on my left side it sends horrible pains down my back so my leg kind of gives out under me and I end up doing a wierd jig. It kind of feels like a charlie horse feels, but it never goes away. I go to my OB next Wednesday so I'm going to ask her about it unless it gets a lot worse before then and I have to go in early. I'm thinking I may need to go to a chiropractor. Whatever the case I'm going to have to do something soon. It's not too terrible right now since we aren't supposed to go anywhere with Mackenzie anyway and I can just hobble around the house.

Well, Mackenzie is sounding really congested in the other room so I need to go try to suck out some of that stuff from her nose.

Lucky me!

Mackenzie is so awesome! Last night I fed her around 10 p.m. and had her in bed by 10:30. I was in bed by 11:20 and asleep soon after. I figured I had better get to bed since Jeremiah is out of town and I'll have to do all the getting up. Until this point Jeremiah had been getting up when Mackenzie woke and he would change her diaper and then bring her in to me to feed her. Then when she was done I would wrap her back up in her blanket and put her back in bed. Since it was going to be up to me I figured I better get as much sleep as possible. Do you know what time she woke up? Not until 5 a.m. ! Holy cow! That was awesome. She's not even a whole three weeks old yet and she slept through the night! I love it!

Also, last night we were doing tummy time and Mackenzie rolled over from her belly to her back! I think it was a fluke, but she still did it! She's advanced. Ha ha.

Well, mom and Logan just came over for a visit so we're going to hang out. I just wanted to update everyone on my little sleepy princess!

kiddos

Well, we've had two really good days. Brady has been really nice and really sweet to Mackenzie. Today we were supposed to go to Jenn's house for the boys birthday party, but Logan came down with an ear infection today and went to the doctor this morning. She said it wouldn't be a good idea for Mackenzie to be around him today so we had to miss out on it. Since Logan will be on antibiotics for a couple days and won't be contagious after tomorrow we might go to see them on Tuesday evening.
Teeney, tiny little toes...

Cutie-pie. This was during one of Mackenzie's awake periods. She doesn't have many. She is usually awake for about two or three hours during the day and then about an hour or two at night. She was awake a lot more today and went to bed really easily tonight. She was asleep by 10:30 p.m.! Last night she took a while to go down, but she finally made it around 11 p.m. We're getting good with our bedtime routine.

Brady decided to sit on Jake today and surprisingly Jake did nothing about it. He just sat there and dealt with it! What a nut! I have a video of Brady playing with Jake shortly after this picture was taken that I'll try to upload here in a while.

Yesterday we decided to start introducing a bottle to Mackenzie. I've been nursing her so far. This is funny: I nurse her in the living room or her room or our room, pretty much wherever we are at the time she needs to eat. I always use a Boppy pillow to support her. We have three of them. One in each room. So yesterday Brady goes and gets one of the Boppies sits on the floor, puts it on his lap, unzips his pjs he was wearing and pats his chest saying, "Eat, eat." It was hillarious. We had to explain that he can only feed Sissy with a bottle. So now each day before his nap I pump a bottle and he and Jeremiah get to feed Sissy.

Helping feed Mackenzie is fun!

Driving already!

Here's Brady on his four-wheeler

Man on the move

Brady got to try out his four-wheeler outside last weekend. It was really nice out, in the 60s. He had a great time driving around the yard and running over sticks. Holly and Amber didn't know what to think of his truck. He doesn't really know how to steer yet so he hasn't figured out how to chase after them. I'm sure by the end of the summer he'll be tormenting them daily!

He got to play on his slide too. Whee!

Getting bigger

Mackenzie is getting bigger every day. She's been doing really good with sleeping too which makes us really excited! We've been working all week on trying to get her days and nights straightened out...she was being a night owl and staying awake until 1:30 every morning. Last night she went down around 11 p.m. which was really great! Of course then Jeremiah and I stayed up watching tv until 1 anyway! Jeremiah goes back to work next week so we'll be going to be a lot earlier I'm sure.

So she's been doing really good between feedings. She eats about every three hours. Sometimes she goes four or five between her middle of the night feedings. When Brady was this age he ate like every hour and a half. It's really nice to have the couple of hours to rest between feedings with Mackenzie! She is so well tempered too. She hardly ever cries...pretty much just when it is time to eat or she has some stubborn gas. Or, when brady hits her. The past two days he's hit her on her head once a day. We don't really know what has gotten into him. He'll be standing there completely happy and nice one second and then the next second he just smacks her on the head. He gets sent to time out for a long while. We've tried to explain to him that he can't hit anyone, especially Sissy because she is so small. I think he's starting to catch on. We'll see how today goes. We're pretty much on protection mode and won't let him come near her without us both there so we can grab him if he starts looking like he's going to be mean. The other 99% of the day he's really nice to her. He kisses her and hugs her and wants to hold her on his lap. It's wierd that he has his naughty moments.

In other Brady news, he's got a fat lip. Yesterday I said something to him and he spun around to look at me and he fell right on top of one of his toys and cut open his lip and part of his gums. I grabbed him immediately. Jeremiah was holding Mackenzie at the time. I took one look at him, saw blood, gave him a hug and yelled, "Trade me - he's bleeding!" We swapped kids and Jeremiah swept Brady off to take care of his lip. It's still kind of swollen today but it doesn't seem to be bothering him much.

Not much else is going on around here. We've been staying home so we don't introduce Mackenzie to any cold and flu germs. Tomorrow we're going over to my sister Jenn's house for the boys birthday parties. Ryan turned 7 on Feb. 28 and Logan will turn 5 on March 12 so they're having a combined party. Jeremiah leaves for Iowa on Sunday and will be back Wednesday. Luckily he doesn't have to go to Topeka the following week anymore so he'll be around to help out and play with the kids.

Well, I'm going to go find something to eat for breakfast. And get some strawberries for Brady to eat...he loves them!
